Cabernet Sauvignon

vintage 2019

Site, Vineyard and Soil
Ried Kräutergarten in Oberwaltersdorf, meagre, light alluvial soil with an element of sand.

Description
The darkest wine in our portfolio, intense red with a nearly black core and bluish highlights. The extremely spicy and intense nose is impressive for its pronounced aromas of cassis, black pepper, cedar and blackberries. The finish shows notes of underbrush and a bit of tobacco. Complex. Very ripe fruit on the palate: black cherries, delicate bitter chocolate with a light chilli spice, cassis. The tannins are velvety at first. All together: a powerful wine with a long finish. Becoming approachable; we expect it to be at its peak in 3-4 years.

Food pairing
With hearty dishes like casseroles, wild game, braised dishes. Particularly lovely with roasted venison & glazed chestnuts. Root vegetables with bacon flecks and lightly fried potato dumplings.
