Site, Vineyard and Soil
Ried Kreuzweingarten in Gumpoldskirchen. Deep, calcareous brown earth with high loam content and good water supply. A vineyard with a long history located just above the Thallern Stiftsweingut, founded 1141 by Cistercian monks from Citeaux in Burgundy.

Description
Bright and clear straw yellow with platinum-coloured reflexes. Elegant and complex scent of ripe pineapple and passion fruit, dried orange peel. On the full-bodied palate, an interplay of savoury acidity and ripe tropical fruit, Lemon zest, Oranges, herbal tea and smoky notes. The long finish is defined by a powerful citrus infusion.

Food Pairing
A great match to poultry dishes like Coq au vin but will act as a perfect companion anywhere an elegant red convinces too.

Serving temperature
slightly chilled at 10 - 12 °C (50- 54 °F)

Vinification
Hand-harvested; Stringent selection of clusters, botrytis berries and unaffected grapes vinified separately. 20% destemmed, then left uncrushed. The rest was destemmed, crushed, spent 24 hours left on the skins prior to pressing. Spontaneous fermentation at 17-21 °C, malolactic fermentation. Élèvage for 16 months in steeltank, 50% in new 600 l oak cask.
